About Pachatusantrek

What is the Pachatusan?

In Andean cosmo-vision, the concept of Pacha does not only refer to Mother Earth. The other meaning is linked to the concept of time and space represented by the serpent called Chocora.

The original term Tusay means to prop-up or to support.

Pachatusan, therefore, can be interpreted as the concept of the permanency of time and space in infinity.

The Apu Pachatusan is one of the sacred or guardian mountains of the city of Cusco, located to the east (in the Antisuyo area).

According to chroniclers of the Spanish invasion this mountain was worshipped with many offerings, indicating that the place was of great importance. At the base of the Pachatusan the archaeological complex of Tipon is found, which is believed to have been principally a place to worship water and fertility.

What is Pachatusantrek?

Pachatusantrek is an organization focused open providing high quality tourist services in the Cuzco area, such as the operation of treks, guided trips and completely assisted trips.

We are a team with more than 10 years personal experience in the tourist industry. With both theoretical and practical experience, in activities such as tourism and hotel administration and guiding.

Our experience has come through working for the best companies, to whom we are very grateful for the learning opportunities, which encouraged us to begin this project. We are part of sustainable development through eco-tourism, with environmental conservation as the final objective of our activities.

Our Team

Jessica Llontop – Travel Consultant

Since I was very young I have always been interested in travel, and feeling it to be my vocation, I decided to study and work in tourism. This activity led me to get to know many places in Peru, and some abroad, and to form an adequate perception of tourist services offered to our visitors.

I have worked in Lima airport, travel agencies and leading tour operators in Lima, Cusco and Puerto Maldonado.

I specialise in travel advice and organisation of trips, and always try to give our clients the high standard of service that I would expect to receive myself.

Sergio Cuba – Guide and Trekking Consultant

I was born in the city of Lima, in the beautiful district of Miraflores, which used to be the Curacazgo de Sulco, belonging to the Lord of Ichsma (Pachacamaq).

I have always felt an overwhelming attraction towards nature, which I have developed in the sea, coast, mountains and jungle.

I have been lucky enough to have experienced working in various places including Lima, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Puerto Maldonado, Lake Sandoval – Tambopata, Cuzco and its magnificent surroundings and most recently in the city of Abancay in the development of an ecotourism project.

Teófilo Gutiérrez – Field Chef

I was born in Totorapampa, province of La Convencion, in the Cusco region. I am proud to have grown up in the heart of the Vilcabamba mountain range.

Seeing the opportunities created by tourism I decided, several years ago, to develop professionally in the areas of cooking and field operations for trekks.

Years of experience have given me the satisfaction to be able to say goodbye to our visitors with genuine smiles on all of our faces.

I was born in Apurimac and at the age of 15 I started work as an assistant cook. The experience helped me to develop and become head chef.

I enjoy working in tourism, and it motivates me to create new dishes, safe in the knowledge that the passengers enjoy my cooking.

I always have the satisfaction of getting a smile from the passengers, which pushes me to keep learning and giving the benefit of my experience to my work.

Hilario Sicus – Field Logistics

I am the son of the Urubamba mountain range, born close to the Lares Valley. Following my father’s example I decided to become an arriero (mule-handler) which I have been doing since I was 12 years old, transporting our visitors equipment through our valleys.

My family is involved in this activity as an alternative type of development, always taking care of our communities and their environment. Caring for the health of my neighbours I am an active member of the Cuncani Health Committee.
